Shadow Work — Men's Group Therapy Edmonton
Most men spend their whole lives managing their shadows instead of facing them.
The anger that flares up before you even know why. The relationships that keep ending the same way. The self-sabotage that shows up right when things start going well. The shame that runs quietly in the background of everything you do. The vices you reach for when things get hard.
These patterns don't come from nowhere. They come from parts of yourself that have never been looked at directly — parts that drive your behaviour from the shadows while you try to hold it together on the surface.
Shadow work is the process of going into those parts. Confronting what's actually there. And turning what has been weakness into something solid.
This is not a support group. This is not a place to vent. This is serious, structured, men's-only group therapy for men who are ready to do the real work.

What Is the Shadow?
The concept of the shadow comes from the work of psychologist Carl Jung. Your shadow is the collection of parts of yourself that you've pushed down, hidden, or denied — because they felt unacceptable, shameful, or dangerous to show.
For most men, the shadow contains:
- Rage that never had anywhere safe to go
- Grief that was never allowed to be expressed
- Fear that got buried under toughness
- Needs that felt too vulnerable to admit
- Parts of yourself you were told weren't okay
Left unaddressed, the shadow runs you. It comes out sideways — as reactivity, emotional shutdown, self-destruction, and patterns you can't seem to break no matter how hard you try.
Confronted directly, the shadow becomes one of the most powerful sources of self-knowledge and genuine strength available to a man.

This Group Is For You If...
- You experience anger outbursts or emotional reactivity that feels out of proportion
- You shut down emotionally and don't know how to come back
- You keep having the same relationship problems no matter who you're with
- You self-sabotage when things start going well
- You struggle with shame, self-criticism, or a persistent feeling that something is wrong with you
- You rely on vices — alcohol, weed, porn, work, screens — to manage how you feel
- You're serious about making real, lasting changes — not just coping better
What to Expect
In this group, you will:
- Learn about your shadow and how it has been shaping your life
- Confront it directly — with support, structure, and honesty
- Understand the root causes of your patterns rather than just managing symptoms
- Turn your greatest weaknesses into genuine sources of strength
- Leave as a more whole, more grounded, more solid version of yourself
How you can expect to feel after the group:
- More calm and internally steady
- Less emotionally reactive or defensive
- Less insecure
- More confident setting boundaries and speaking honestly
- More emotionally available without feeling weak
This is not for the faint of heart. This group will involve intense digging to the root cause of why you are the way you are. Prepare yourself for a challenge — and be ready to do the work.
